About Us
How does it work?
The club has more than 60 members now, but with everyone working different shifts and living all over London, it’s difficult to have a regular meet-up although club runs from Met Pol Sports Clubs are increasing – volunteers to lead them required. Most members belong to a local club as well which are good if they want to socialise and go for rides. There are also the Police National Championships every year for most cycling disciplines.
What about the online forum?
All paid MPCC members will be given access to the secure web-forum, if you have not received the e-mail containing your login/password, please contact John LAWSON @ JI.
Do I need to be Chris Hoy to get ino the Met Club?
No, riders of all skill levels are welcome.
Has interest spiked since the Olympic victories?
Yes. There have been about two or three e-mail enquiries a week. When the club was resurrected in 2001 it had six members, and today stands at over 60.
What’s the cost to join?
There is a joining fee of £30.00 for new/lapsed members and an annual sub’s of only £25.00.
What sort of kit or gear is needed?
Just a bike, cycling clothing and bags of enthusiasm.
What bike should I buy?
Sometimes people buy one for less money and it’s not very good. Spend a bit of extra and get a racing bike with 10 gears – many have a carbon-fibre frame.
